16 Revisiting the Trinity: Trinity Trails, Fort Worth TX
The final half of this semester has been so busy with school work, that I have found it somewhat hard to make time to spend as much working out and hanging outside as I would've liked. However after our class ended on Wednesday, I could not resist spending the rest of my afternoon getting some fresh air. The weather was 72 and sunny, a perfect day! I had been wanting to go running for quite some time, and what better place to do this than on the Trinity Trails. I set out, going to visit my Quiet Place from the beginning of the semester for one of the last times before I travelled home for winter break.
As I arrived, parked my car, and began stretching in preparation for my run, I soon realized that the Trinity had transformed since the last time I had visited. Now, all of the trees were beginning to turn beautiful shades of red, green, orange, and yellow. Fall had arrived on the Trinity Trails!! My favorite picture and sight that I discovered throughout my afternoon exploration was this tree pictured below. The tree seemed to be split between seasons, with half of it still showing the lush green colors of Summer, while the other half had transitioned to the warm colors of Fall.
I decided that I would complete my run first, and then spend the second part of my afternoon cooling down and walking the Trinity, admiring the beautiful Fall foliage and immersing myself in the perfect day. As I began my run, I was a little worried about my fitness, being that it had been a while since I last worked out. However, the sunshine and beautiful views rejuvenated my spirits and kept me going. I never felt fatigued, but rather even more alive than before. I forgot how much I loved working out and how much energy it gave me. As I finished my 3 miles, I couldn't help but smile, grateful for this opportunity and for making the time for myself to get back into running and get outside.
Now that the run was over and my spirits were high, I walked along the Trinity, really paying attention to my surroundings and getting to enjoy this beautiful place that I knew and loved. The Trinity was quieter than usual that afternoon. There were still bikers, walkers, and joggers, however, there was a peaceful quietness that hung in the air. The warm colors of fall surrounded me on every branch and blade of grass, fulfilling me with a sense of comfort and relaxation.
I continued to walk backwards from the direction I had just ran down, taking note of every little detail that caught my eye. There were many birds flying about, leaves crunching beneath my feet, and the warm golden hour sunlight that made everything more beautiful. Walking along the path with the trees on either side of me was a dream. The occasional breeze sent leaves floating down around me, creating the most perfect picture of an autumn day.
I continued along to an area of the Trinity that I am very familiar and fond of, the low water dam. I love walking across these rocks, being close to the waters edge. From this point, one can often see many ducks floating in the river and egrets perched on the bank. I took some photos of this area, being that is a place on the Trinity that I always seem to pass by and admire.
Overall, the Trinity during this afternoon was an evening like no other. I have never experienced such a peaceful, relaxing, and recharging moment in nature. The warm, comforting glow of Fall coupled with the fading warm weather of Summer was the perfect combination. I walked for about an hour on the Trinity, really appreciating everything I saw and reflecting on our semester in Treks and Texts. I found myself stopping at this location pictured below. It was a beautiful spot, with orange hues and the slight beams of sunlight sneaking through. I could've stayed here forever, but eventually made my way back to my car.
As I left the Trinity, I stopped by Clean Juice and picked up a healthy green juice full of fresh ingredients. It was the perfect post-workout snack and was so refreshing. Driving home, I couldn't help but be SO appreciative of life and my afternoon. I was proud to have used my free-time wisely to take some time for my personal health and get outdoors. My body relies on working out and getting fresh air and I was so happy to be able to provide myself with that. I was filled with so much positive energy from my afternoon and was in a great mood for the rest of the day. My mind and body had been recharged and refreshed, ready to take on the rest of the semester.
